2. General Information
BHV Radar is a privately operated hobby project displaying AIS and ADS-B reception data for informational purposes. No registration, user account or payment is required to use the website.
Personal data is processed only where technically necessary to provide, secure and operate the website, or where you voluntarily contact the operator.
3. Website Hosting and Technical Delivery
The website is hosted by the operator on a privately operated server located in Germany. The website is delivered through a reverse proxy and the Cloudflare network.
When the website is accessed, technically necessary connection data may be processed. This may include:
- IP address
- Date and time of access
- Requested URL and transferred data volume
- Referring website, where transmitted by the browser
- Browser, device and operating-system information
- Information required to detect errors or abusive access
The processing is necessary to establish the connection, deliver the website, maintain technical stability and protect the systems against attacks and misuse.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interests are the secure, reliable and efficient operation of this non-commercial website.
No separate visitor analytics or user profiling is operated by BHV Radar. Technical log information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for operation, troubleshooting and security and is then deleted or overwritten, unless a longer retention period is required for investigating a specific security incident or by law.
4. Cloudflare
This website uses services provided by Cloudflare, Inc. and affiliated Cloudflare companies. Cloudflare operates as a content-delivery, security and reverse-proxy service between visitors and the website's origin server.
When the website is accessed, requests are generally routed through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare may process technical connection data such as IP addresses, request information, browser characteristics and security-related signals. This processing is used in particular to provide encrypted connections, improve availability and performance, and detect or mitigate malicious traffic.
The legal basis for the operator's use of Cloudflare is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interests are the secure, reliable and efficient provision of the website.
Cloudflare operates infrastructure in several countries. Data may therefore be processed outside the European Economic Area. Cloudflare states that it uses contractual and organisational safeguards for international data transfers where required.
5. AIS and ADS-B Data
BHV Radar displays radio transmissions received from vessels and aircraft using AIS and ADS-B technology. Depending on the transmitted information, the displayed data may include identifiers, positions, courses, speeds, altitudes, vessel names, aircraft call signs and similar operational information.
The data is processed automatically and solely for display within the hobby project. BHV Radar does not combine this information with visitor data and does not create visitor-related tracking profiles.
Displayed reception data may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate and may be removed or overwritten as new reception data becomes available.
6. OpenStreetMap
The map views use map tiles provided by the OpenStreetMap project. When a map is opened, the visitor's browser establishes a direct connection to OpenStreetMap's tile servers. In doing so, technical data, including the visitor's IP address, the requested map tile, browser information and the date and time of the request, may be transmitted to the operator of those servers.
The map service is used to present the received AIS and ADS-B positions in a clear geographical form. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the informative and functional presentation of the tracking data.
7. Leaflet and UNPKG
The Leaflet mapping library is currently loaded from the UNPKG content delivery network. When a map page is opened, the visitor's browser connects directly to UNPKG in order to retrieve the required JavaScript and stylesheet files.
During this connection, technical information such as the visitor's IP address, browser details, requested files and time of access may be transmitted to the service provider.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the reliable and efficient provision of the technical map functionality.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
BHV Radar does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or cookies for cross-site user tracking.
Cloudflare may use technically necessary cookies or similar security mechanisms in individual cases, for example when checking suspicious traffic, protecting the website against automated attacks or verifying that a request originates from a legitimate browser.
9. Contact by Email
If you contact the operator by email, the information you provide, including your email address and the contents of your message, will be processed in order to handle and respond to your request.
Depending on the nature of the request, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the appropriate processing of enquiries addressed to the operator.
Correspondence is deleted when it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was received, unless statutory retention obligations or legitimate reasons for further storage apply.
10. External Contact Form
As an additional contact option, BHV Radar links to a contact form provided by Online-Impressum.de, a service of Clear-Media UG (haftungsbeschränkt).
The contact form is hosted on the provider's website. Only when you follow the external link will your browser establish a connection to Online-Impressum.de. Information entered into the form, including your name, email address, subject and message, is transmitted to the operator of BHV Radar for the purpose of processing your enquiry.
Further information concerning processing on the external website can be found in the privacy policy of Online-Impressum.de.
11. Recipients of Personal Data
Personal data may be processed by technical service providers where this is necessary to provide or secure the website. These may include Cloudflare and the providers whose external map or software resources are loaded by the visitor's browser.
Data is not sold and is not disclosed to third parties for advertising purposes.
12. Your Rights
Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you may have the right to:
- obtain information about personal data concerning you;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion or restriction of processing;
- receive data in a portable format where applicable;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent with effect for the future, where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
Requests concerning these rights can be sent to the email address stated above.
13. Automated Decision-Making
BHV Radar does not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR in relation to website visitors.
14. Security
Appropriate technical and organisational measures are used to protect the website and processed data. These include encrypted HTTPS connections, access controls, software updates and protective network services. Absolute security of data transmission over the internet cannot, however, be guaranteed.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This privacy policy may be updated if the website, its technical operation or the applicable legal requirements change. The version published on this page is the current version.
16. Disclaimer for Tracking Data
AIS and ADS-B information displayed on BHV Radar is provided solely for informational and hobby purposes. It may be incomplete, delayed or inaccurate and must not be used for navigation, flight operations, traffic control or other safety-critical decisions.
